The Three Seas Initiative Research Center project at the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences (ISP PAN)
The Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences (ISP PAN) is home to the Three Seas Initiative Research Centre project, which seeks to drive progress in scientific research and understanding of the collaborative efforts of thirteen EU Member States situated between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas. Spearheaded by Professor Agnieszka Orzelska-Stączek, a team of researchers is currently undertaking this project at ISP PAN.
The Three Seas Initiative is a substantial and aspirational endeavour of great strategic significance for Central Europe. Its primary goal is to enhance development by fostering political and economic collaboration. However, adding the Research Centre demonstrates the initiative’s intent to elevate the importance of scientific research and expertise by promoting expert-level cooperation.
Our Center is committed to promoting scientific knowledge related to regional cooperation and research on the Three Seas Initiative. Additionally, we aim to encourage international collaboration among research and socio-economic entities within the Three Seas region. Our initiative aligns with the Science for Society program’s objectives, which seek to facilitate partnerships between higher education, scientific institutions, and socio-economic actors.
Inaugurated by the Dubrovnik Presidential Summit in 2016, the Three Seas Initiative is a group of thirteen European Union states committed to stimulating the region’s economy by promoting the development of transportation, energy security, and digitalisation. The initiative also aims to strengthen EU unity and foster transatlantic relations with the strategic partnership of the United States, Germany, and the European Commission. Moldova and Ukraine bear the status of associated states.
The Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences (ISP PAN) is a preeminent centre for political research founded in 1990. The Three Seas Initiative Research Centre project, currently being executed at ISP PAN, aims to study various aspects of the Three Seas region, specifically Central and Eastern Europe. The Center’s mission is to explore social and political changes in the region over the past century to provide valuable insights into the region’s future. The project draws upon the vast experience and expertise of the institute’s scholars, making the Three Seas Initiative Research Centre a significant contributor to political research.
