From September 13th to 15th, 2023, the Krynica Forum 2023 was held, bringing together business and academic representatives from Central Europe and beyond.
The main topics discussed in the Krynica Forum were related to security, including strategic, energetic, food, and climate security. There were also discussions related to the situation in Ukraine. Participants discussed ways to support, cooperate, and aid in the post-war recovery of Poland’s eastern neighbour. This year’s event also included a Polish-Korean Forum dedicated to the strategic economic cooperation between the two countries, with the participation of Poland’s President Andrzej Duda, Korea’s Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, and their respective delegations. The President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, was also present at the event. Other attendees included ministers, ambassadors, diplomats, representatives of local governments, scientists, analysts, and journalists. The Krynica Forum 2023 had 300 panels, 295 panelists from 15 countries, and gathered over 2,300 participants in total.
The topic of the Three Seas Initiative was raised during a panel titled ‘The Three Seas – A Step Forward: How to Increase the Position of the Three Seas in the World of International Finance’. The speakers discussed the economic situation in Central Europe and the region’s potential in the context of trans-border infrastructure investments. Professor Agnieszka Orzelska-Stączek, the project manager of the Three Seas Initiative Research Center project, Polish Academy of Sciences ISP PAN, also took part in the Three Seas panel.
