Archive

The Three Seas Initiative Documentation Archive began its activities in 2022 as an essential part of the overall project. The main task set before the Archive was to fill the gap of collecting source documentation on the Three Seas Initiative in one place, which, through the lack of permanent premises and the Initiative’s secretariat, made it difficult to research this format of regional cooperation.

The Three Seas Initiative Documentation Archive (in addition to the Three Seas Library) holds in its collection not only documents related to the Three Seas Initiative Summits (starting with the Dubrovnik summit in 2016) but also transcripts from the Committee of the Foreign Affairs of the Sejm or the documentation of the Three Seas Local Government Congress. Apart from that, an essential part of the Archive’s collection consists of Polish press releases and scientific publications circulating internationally that relate to the topic mentioned earlier. Thanks to this, our guests can become familiar with the primary sources and the ever-growing database of scientific papers by Polish and foreign authors.

The first step in setting up the Archive was to identify what documents the Initiative was producing itself. After that, archival research in the Political Parties Archive of the Institute of Political Studies, PAS, was conducted to research the Polish political parties’ stance on the Three Seas Initiative. As a result the report „Inicjatywa Trójmorza w programach partii politycznych oraz w programach wyborczych kandydatów na prezydenta w okresie 2014-2023” [„Three Seas Initiative in the political parties’ programs and the presidential candidates 2014-2023”] was published in the journal „Studia Polityczne” nr 2/2024 additionally with the complementary documents collection.
