On the first day of our study visit to Lithuania, members of the delegation participated in the event organized by the Vilnius University and the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences entitled “The Three Seas Initiative: Transport, energy and digital infrastructure development as a step to strengthen the region’s resilience.”
The topic of the seminar concerned broadly understood economic cooperation in the region. The speakers discussed, among others, infrastructure development, European Union cohesion policy, and transatlantic relations between the countries participating in the Three Seas Initiative and the United States, Germany, and Ukraine.
The guests were welcomed by Prof. Margarita Šešelgytė (Institute of International Relations and Political Sciences, Vilnius University), and the entire event was moderated by Dr. Mariusz Antonowicz (Vilnius University).
Many distinguished scientists and experts took part in the seminar:
- Gediminas Varvuolis, Ambassador for the Three Seas Initiative and Connectivity, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania;
- Jarek Niewierowicz, advisor to the President of Lithuania for Environment and Infrastructure;
- Przemysław Żurawski vel Grajewski, University of Łódź;
- Piotr Bajda, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University;
- Krzysztof Żęgota, University of Warmia and Mazury;
- Dr. Damian Szacawa, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin and the Institute of Central Europe;
- Dr. Mantas Adomėnas, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs;
- Dr. Ieva Gajauskaitė, Lithuanian Military Academy of General Jonas Žemaitis;
The discussion ended with a speech by Dr. Aleksandra Kuczyńska-Zonik (Catholic University of Lublin and the Institute of Central Europe).
