This time as part of the project entitled The Three Seas Initiative Research Center at the ISP PAN, a group of researchers, scientists, and experts representing various institutions visited the Republic of Lithuania. The impetus to organize the visit was the upcoming summit of the Three Seas Initiative in Vilnius.
During the stay in the capital of Lithuania, the Three Seas Initiative Research Center at ISP PAN co-organized two seminars:
- “The Three Seas Initiative: transport, energy and digital infrastructure development as a Step to strengthen the region’s resilience”, was organized in cooperation with the University of Vilnius, moderated by Dr. Mariusz Antonowicz.
- “The Social Dimension of the Three Seas Initiative” was organized at the Lithuanian Social Research Center (LSCC), hosted by Prof. Boguslavas Gruževskis, director of LSCC.
Apart from the strictly scientific aspect, no less important were talks about the Three Seas Initiative in the Presidential Palace, in the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and also in the Parliament with Laurynas Kasciunas – chairman of the parliamentary group for national security and defense. As with every study visit, our group could count on the kindness of the Polish diplomatic mission – this time we were hosted by the Polish ambassador Konstanty Radziwiłł.
There were also cultural points. Participants of the study visit had the opportunity to visit the Vilnius Old Town with prof. Andrzej Pukszto – historian, political scientist, and licensed guide in Vilnius. The last point of the week was a visit to the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, courtesy of Dr. Ramunė Šmigelskytė-Stukienė, deputy director.
The main organizers of the visit were Dr. Aleksandra Kuczyńska-Zonik from the Institute of Central Europe and the Catholic University of Lublin, as well as prof. Andrzej Pukszto from the Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas.
