Establishing the Three Seas Initiative Research Center aims to extend this cooperation to the scientific and expert level. The project launched at the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences will serve to popularize and develop scientific knowledge and research on the Initiative. The Center’s project is to be the foundation of an international network connecting research entities and others operating in the socio-economic sphere in the Three Seas region.

Scientific research on the Three Seas Initiative has been conducted for several years and has attracted great interest. However, staffing and financial problems have so far limited their development. Therefore, when I became the head of the Department of Central and Eastern Europe and Post-Soviet Research at the Institute of Fine Arts of the Polish Academy of Sciences, I began intensive efforts to obtain external funds to develop research on the Three Seas Initiative. After a year of intense efforts by the entire team and the favorable consideration of the application, we can start implementing our plans. They include, among others, the preparation of scientific works (monographs and articles), organization of conferences, seminars, and study trips to the Three Seas countries, the launch of the Three Seas Initiative Documentary Archive, creation of a fund for co-financing scientific trips for foreign researchers working in this area. We also are ambitious to organize a scientific panel at the Three Seas Initiative Summit next year – announces Dr. Hab. Agnieszka Orzelska-Stączek, prof. ISP PAN is the head of the Three Seas Initiative Research Center.
